Long extends sympathies to Creeslough after Gas Station Tragedy

Alliance Leader, Naomi Long has extended her sympathies to the bereaved friends and families of those who died in the devastating explosion in Creeslough.

Speaking after Gardaí confirmed that 10 people have lost their lives, including two teenagers and a child, Naomi Long said:

“It is hard to comprehend the enormity of the loss which this village has suffered and the depth of shock and grief in the aftermath of this tragic incident.  The village of Creeslough and the entire community across Donegal and the North West have been profoundly affected by the loss of life and will carry the scars for many years to come.

“My deepest sympathies are with the families and friends of those who died. I pray that the close-knit community and the love of friends and family will bring them comfort in their grief.

"I also want to pay tribute to the emergency services on both sides of the border who responded quickly to the incident, initially to save lives and sadly, later, to recover the remains of those who had died. Their contribution is immeasurable and I know that they, too, will be acutely affected by this devastating loss.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire village of Creeslough and we send our best wishes to those recovering in hospital.

“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a n-anamacha.”
