It was reported that two men were observed assaulting a man in a licensed premises in the Eglinton Street area of Portrush on Wednesday3 January, shortly before 11 pm.

 

Police then received a further call about the assault of a woman by the same two men in another licenced premises in the Coleraine area.

 

The woman received a punch to the head and suffered a leg injury.

 

Alliance Causeway representative Alderman Richard Stewart has urged the community to come forward with any information related to the incident.

 

Alderman Stewart said: “The quick response from the Police officers, led to both men involved in these incidents being located and arrested for a number of offences, including common assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Both men remain in custody at this time.

 

"Our community should be a safe and welcoming place for everyone. Acts of violence and disruption will not be tolerated, and it is crucial that we stand together to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents and visitors."

 

Causeway Alliance Cllr Peter McCully also acknowledges the dedicated efforts of the local PSNI in investigating the matter and calls upon the community to assist in their endeavours, stating: "I have full confidence in the police force, and I believe that with the cooperation of our community, those responsible for this assault will be brought to justice."
